Would my existing charger work with Ni-Mh battery
?
Dear Customers :
Your original charger will charge any kind of battery, (Either it
is a Ni-Cd , Ni-Mh or Lithium Ion battery.) as long as the terminals'
position fits perfectly.
BUT....
Ni-Cd battery and Ni-Mh battery require different sensors to shut
off the charger power.
When a Ni-Cd battery gets to br fully charged, Right after it
peaks, The power will drop. The Ni-Cd charger will sense that drop,
then it will shut off the power.
But when a Ni-Mh battery gets to fully charged, It will stay on
that level, and it gets hotter and hotter, So most the Ni-Mh battery
chargers count on temperature sensor or power sensor to shut
off.
So far, we see that most of the camcorder chargers are equipped
with both kinds of sensors, There are very very few problems
reported. So, When it comes to camcorder battery, Please feel free to
use your original charger to charge Ni-Mh battery. As well as the
"House desk charger" for your cellular phone.
But, when it comes to car charger for your
cellular phone battery...
You must be very careful, The car charger
won't shut down. (Either Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh battery.) We have a lot of
melted and twisted batteries that come back to our place. Because of
either being over charged or over heated.
In our opinion, That car charger is good
for emergency use only. Don't use that charger as your routine
charger. Even when you turn the ignition off, Some car cigarette
lighters still stay on. Thus , we will have melted batteries. and
that is presume your car didn't catch on fire.
